DGSA (DANGEROUS GOODS SAFETY ADVISOR) - 5 day course
A Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor must hold a Vocational Certificate gained by passing written examinations. In the UK the examinations are set and administered by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) as the agent for the Department of Transport (DfT) and will be valid for 5 years.
The examination modules are as follows:

The duties of the DGSA include:
Monitoring compliance with the rules governing the transport of Dangerous Goods. Advising his undertaking on the transport of Dangerous Goods.
Preparing an annual report to the management of his undertaking or a local public authority, as appropriate, on the undertaking activities in the transport of Dangerous Goods. Such annual report shall be preserved for 5 years and made available to the national authorities at their request.
Accident/Incident prevention and investigation.
Provision of training and keeping of records.
Verification of procedures and instrustions, in particular for loading and unloading.
The 5 day course needs a high level of participation on the delegate's behalf and includes a series of practical exercises both during and following the course to fully prepare the delegate for the SQA examinations.
